Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using MnemoRead ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree, you may not access or use the Service.

Acceptable Use

MnemoRead is designed for educational and personal learning purposes. You agree to use the Service only for lawful, legitimate educational and language-learning activities.

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for illegal, harmful, or malicious purposes
• Upload or process content that infringes the intellectual property rights of others
• Upload or process content protected by digital rights management (DRM)
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or interfere with the Service
• Use automated tools, scripts, or bots to access the Service
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' data
• Disrupt or degrade the operation of the Service

User Content & Rights

User Responsibility

When uploading any file or content, you represent and warrant that:

• You own the content or have obtained all necessary rights and permissions to upload and use it, and
• The content is not protected by DRM.

You remain solely responsible for the content you upload.

License to MnemoRead

By uploading content, you grant MnemoRead a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, reproduce, and process that content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the Service. MnemoRead does not claim ownership of your content.

Content Processing & Storage

MnemoRead processes uploaded content in order to generate language metrics, learning statistics, study features, and to provide reading and educational functionality within the Service. By uploading content, you authorize MnemoRead to store, reproduce, and process such content solely as reasonably necessary to operate and improve the Service.

Uploaded content is not shared with other users and is not distributed outside of the Service unless explicitly authorized by the user.

MnemoRead retains uploaded content only while it remains in the user's library. When a user deletes a book from their library, the corresponding uploaded content is deleted from MnemoRead's systems within a reasonable time, subject only to limited technical backups and legal retention requirements.

MnemoRead does not sell, license, or otherwise provide access to uploaded books or texts to third parties.

Guest Usage & Technical Logging

Guest users may access the Service without creating an account.

For security, abuse prevention, and legal compliance, MnemoRead may log limited technical information including:

• session identifiers
• IP address (or truncated IP)
• timestamps
• file fingerprints (cryptographic hashes)

These logs do not contain the uploaded text and are retained only as long as reasonably necessary.

Plans, Payments & Refunds

MnemoRead offers a free plan and a paid Reader plan. The free plan includes every feature with a daily allowance that resets at midnight UTC. The Reader plan removes those daily limits and adds cross-device sync for your uploads, audio for whole sentences, and the full set of flashcard types.

Reader is offered monthly, yearly, or as a one-off lifetime purchase. Prices are in euros and include any applicable VAT. Monthly and yearly plans renew automatically until cancelled; you can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.

Lifetime access is a single payment. It does not renew, so there is nothing to cancel.

Payments are processed by Polar Software Inc., which acts as the merchant of record for the Reader plan. Polar takes the payment, issues your invoice and is responsible for collecting and remitting VAT. Your card details are handled by Polar and never reach us. You manage your subscription through the Polar billing portal, reachable from your MnemoRead settings, where you can cancel, change your payment method and download invoices. That portal is currently available in English only; if you would rather not use it, write to us and we will cancel or refund on your behalf.

Because Reader is digital content delivered immediately, you agree that access begins as soon as you pay, and consumers in the EU acknowledge that this waives the 14-day right of withdrawal once access has been provided. We will still refund billing errors and cases where the Service did not work as described; contact us and we will look at it.

Free-plan allowances may be adjusted without prior notice to keep the Service available and affordable for everyone. Any change to the price of an existing paid plan will be announced in advance.

Past Ko-fi donations were voluntary and remain non-refundable. The Reader access they granted has ended.

Account Suspension & Termination

Service Availability & Liability

MnemoRead is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MnemoRead shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability for incidental or consequential damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability will be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law. Nothing in these Terms limits the statutory rights you have as a consumer.

Intellectual Property

All Service software, design, branding, and features are the exclusive property of MnemoRead. These Terms grant you no ownership rights in the Service itself.

Modifications

MnemoRead reserves the right to modify or update these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective when posted to the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.

Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand our practices regarding the collection and use of your information.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which MnemoRead operates, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer rules of your country of residence.
