Reading in English is one of the most effective ways to improve vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension. On Mnemoread, you can read free English books in their original language, with built-in tools designed specifically for language learners β no interruptions, no switching apps.
Whether you are a beginner discovering English literature or an advanced learner reading English classics, this page helps you choose the right book for your level.
Find Books for Your Level
Beginner: Start with easy English books, short stories, and beginner-friendly texts with simple vocabulary, familiar themes, and clear sentence structures. These books are ideal if you are learning English by reading for the first time.
Intermediate: Progress to classic novels and narrative works with richer vocabulary, longer sentences, and more complex storytelling, while still remaining accessible for learners.
Advanced: Challenge yourself with complex philosophical works, essays, and advanced literature written for native-level readers.
Each book's level comes from measuring its text: how many of the language's most common words you need to know to understand 95% of it, and how long its sentences are. Levels compare the books of our library, so "beginner" means the easiest we have, not a textbook level; plays and poems can look easier than they are, since their lines are short. French, English and Japanese books also show a CEFR or JLPT reading, taken from published vocabulary lists.
Browse all available English books below, or use the difficulty tags to find the best starting point for your level.
